“Rai Libri” is Rai Com’s imprint on the publishing market. Its main purpose is to develop into publishing projects the rich and different contents of his radio-tv show schedule. But it also aims at performing Rai’s mission of “public service”, by bringing to the public the stories, issues and trends emerging in a fast-changing society.
With a vast catalogue built in its almost century-long history and about 50 new titles every year, Rai Libri is widely distributed in Italian bookstores and other book distribution outlets. Its offer of fiction and nonfiction aims at answering the demands of information, entertainment and research of a readership just as different as the radio and tv audience is.
One of Rai Libri’s core aims is to contribute to the study of media and communication issues, in today’s varied landscape of languages and techniques, but also to document, to examine and share the excellence of the Radio and Television public service.
With a treasure of contents to draw on, and its expertise in divulging them to a wide public in all forms of publishing production – from the in-depth experience of the book to the varied content solutions of e-books, enhanced books and other new reading models – Rai Libri is at the same time a traditional and a very special kind of publisher: Rai you can read.
The Rai Editorial branch was set up in January 1925 with the publication of the weekly “Radio Orario”, that published both the “time schedules” of the Italian station (once called URI - Unione Radiofonica Italiana – Italian Radio Union) and the European stations.
In 1930, with l’EIAR, “Radio Orario” should have become “Radiocorriere”
On the 15th September 1949 the ERI company – Italian Radio Editions - was founded in Torino, and from then onwards continued its editorial activity.
Specialized magazines and journals were later added to the “Radiocorriere”: “L’Approdo letterario”, “L’Approdo musicale”, “La radio per le scuole”, “Elettronica”, “Terzo Programma”, "The New Italian Musical Magazine" , "Tv-Junior", "The New Age of Machines", “Bianco & Nero”, “Il Diritto delle radiodiffusioni e delle telecominicazioni”, “Moda”, “King”.
In 1954, due to the advent of Television, it became, “Radiocorriere-Tv”
ERI has seen a two-fold increase in book production and has enriched itself considerably during the years with a great quantity of series and titles.

Famous authors who wrote for ERI are: Ginestra Amaldi, Franco Antonicelli, Simona Argentieri, Guido Aristarco, Gabriele Baldini, Luigi Baldacci, Maria Bellonci, Bernard Berenson, Carlo Bernardini, Angela Bianchini, Walter Binni, Carlo Bo, Umberto Bosco, Giorgio Braga, Fernand Braudel, Federico Caffè, Nicola Caracciolo, Francesco Carnelutti, Franco Catalano, Emilio Cecchi, Vincenzo Consolo, Silvio D’Amico, Ennio De Concini, Manlio Del Bosco, Cesare De Seta, Alfonso M.
